Tal Palo commissioned Rocca Luis César, an artist from Guadalajara, Mexico to create the design of this mural, La Cosecha. The owners of Tal Palo were attracted to the artist’s modern, ribbon-like linework in the colors of old Talavera pottery, and his concept about harvest and family.
Arts Los Altos helped fund and coordinate this mural with the property owner next door, the muralist, and the merchants, Adriana and Aaron Porter. Their friend and local muralist Nigel Sussman, painted the mural in Tal Palo’s patio which can also be seen from San Antonio and the parking area behind the cafe.
Título: La Cosecha, by Rocca Luis César
Sembramos y cosechamos frutos,
los regamos y llenamos de sol, luz de luna,
los vemos crecer, florecer, los cuidamos.
los compartimos y disfrutamos de
la abundancia del amor, la tierra
y la naturaleza.
Tal Palo equates a welcoming experience influenced by the nostalgic flavors and memories of México. “Beyond a business venture, Tal Palo is a way to stay connected to my community and advocate for the people that I love. As a daughter of immigrants, I have always had pride in my Mexican heritage. This is especially important for me as a mother to pass on to my children. I want to instill in them the same pride so they can continue to honor our history,” says Adriana Porter, co-owner with her husband Aaron Porter.
Translation: The Harvest
We sow and reap fruits,
we water them and fill them with sun, moonlight,
we see them grow, flourish, we take care of them.
we share and enjoy
the abundance of love, the earth
and nature.
